Love in Noire
The word Noire translates to black in English.
I recall having a conversation with someone about how they struggled as a black man in law enforcement after asking him how he was doing. My simple question opened a dialogue that was heavy yet necessary.
Police brutality isn’t new. It’s only become harder for those that aren’t affected by it firsthand to turn a blind eye to it. However, to be a black man while essentially being on both sides of the fence, it’s not hard to see how conflicting that is nor the judgements that comes along with it.
Without knowing it, I offered him a safe space for his views. He expressed that I was the first person to ask him how he was doing through the political climate that we are in.
Creating Love in Noire was my way of forcing all of us to have that conversation with our love ones without judgement any preconceived notions. Offering them the safe space that they aren’t able to find anywhere else.
Two lovers that were on two different sides but had one common ground: Love in Noire.
