Untainted Love

Untainted Love is and will forever be my baby. My journey of becoming a published author began with Ladi and Ace’s story. I can recall waking up one day and saying out loud that I wanted to write a book. The first four chapters were written in the notes section on my phone. Afterward, I typed them in Word, and Untainted Love was conceived.

At the time, I was questioning what true love meant to me; more importantly, Black Love. So, I began writing poetry focusing on self-love as therapy, and Untainted Love came afterward. It truly helped me understand the kinds of stories I wanted to put out into the world.

Untainted Love was the beginning of fostering chemistry through literary art. In writing their story, I created my vision of Black Love. No matter what book write I write, Untainted Love is my blueprint.

First, I create the lead female character; and then, I develop the male lead to complement her. Even in their differences, they complement one another, which is deliberate. Ace was literally designed with Ladi in mind, and I believe why readers love much.

When I first released Untainted Love, I recall getting calls and text messages asking who Ace was. People really thought he was someone I knew that I had written a book about. I loved that because it meant that I did my job as a writer.

Truth is, no one I know or dated is like Ace. That’s not to say that there aren’t men out there like him. My belief that there are Black men who can properly love their partners is why Ace even exists.

Ladi needed Ace as much as he needed her. His certainty and persistence are what made the pair work. Ladi required Ace’s actions and words to believe in love. It was important that I centered Ace and Ladi’s love around pureness. Hence the name: Untainted Love.

Untainted Love began my journey as a published author, and for that, I will always be grateful to share their story.
