The Perfect Gift

December, aka Deci and Noel Sleigh’s story, was one of redemption.

My thought process in writing this book was, how do I connect these two characters in under fifty pages?

When writing Christmas stories, I prefer to keep them short, preferably under twelve thousand words. It can be a bit challenging because the last thing I want is to rush the story. The best way to do that is by making sure each interaction is intense and creating history between the two characters.

Second chance stories are my least favorite trope to write because, personally, I no longer subscribe to second chances. Redemption works in this case because they made mistakes in their younger years. Noel and Deci actually have the opportunity to repair their relationship, but it requires a lot of unpacking.

They essentially are each other’s perfect gift.
